The third page has been uploaded to this site! After Mali there now is a page on neighbouring Mauritania. The first page uploaded deals with the Nyayo Bus Service which operated in Nairobi from 1986 until 1995. As a personal initiative of President Daniel Arap Moi it represents an interesting piece of history. This page links through the Kenya buses page, but you can also click here:

The history of the African bus is as varied and interesting as the continent itself. But, while the history of buses in other continents has been thoroughly described and many professionals and hobbyists follow current developments, the African bus remains a mistery to many. However, there is much more to it than secondhand European buses and foreign operators, as we will try to show on the country pages.
While over the years I made many pictures of buses in many countries in Africa, this collection merely forms the basis of this site. Fortunately, others contribute and I would like to invite anyone who can to contribute with information and/or pictures.
